Lake Way will be SO4’s first producing asset. Once ramped up, the project will produce 245kt of premium SO4 for the agriculture industry each year. But first, they needed to walk on water, not get bogged down in salt lakes.
No biggie, right?
Working with the SO4 team, OMG Engineering designed and built a custom lake walker to help them do just that. Fitted with extra large groused plates and weights, the Shrek ll travels on 2 PSI ground pressure, making it more than up to the challenge of Lake Way’s unpredictable terrain.
A fully enclosed two-seater cab provides a comfortable and air-conditioned environment for operators.
Like its namesake, Shrek ll has layers. Taine, OMG engineer, explains, “The tools and systems on the Shrek ll were all chosen because of their reliability. We’re confident that between our design and the specs onboard, SO4’s ramp up to 100% capacity will be smooth sailing.”
The design includes a 6-tonne Palfinger crane, allowing for versatile operations, and groused plates specifically engineered to accommodate a 2.4m excavator base.
